<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The temperatures are still really cold, and the snow heights are still really tall so I was stuck inside all day again! I tried to take advantage of that time but I had a creative block today! I did get to thinking though, about recycled crafts. The possibilities are endless! For example, yesterday, when making cheese dip with the Velveeta cheese block, I was about to throw the empty box away when I felt how strong the box was. So, I decided I would later cover the box in either music notes, comic pages, or scrapbook paper. I'm saving the box so it will become a Crafty Deed of the Day. For another example, when your done with your coke bottles yank off the top tabs and start to collect them. This way, when you collect at leas 22, you can make a bracelet! Remember, recycling things aren't all trash. A lot of those things have great potential!!! In honor of this, tomorrow through February 8, 2011 are going to have Crafty Deeds of the Day that require recycled things that every one will have around the house. Have fun with the things you have around the house! Good Luck!
Thanks! -MaddyThe Queen Beehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09281613501010077027noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2472865442470453742.post-14534485385690438332011-02-02T16:46:00.000-08:002011-02-06T17:49:05.388-08:00Crafty Deed of the Day- Stryofoam Valentines Day Wreath<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Hi Everyone!
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> Today I'm trapped in the house with all 2.5 feet of snow and yet did not a a minute to do a craft!!!! A sin, I know!!! Even though I didn't do anything real crafty TODAY I wanted to share with you a recipe for the perfect Valentines Day craft that I made last Valentines Day. I got this idea from my mom who make something like this to hang on an arrow. I don't have a picture for it today because I didn't make one today, but I wanted to get this tutorial ready early enough for you all to make one, let it dry, and hang in in time for Valentines Day! Have Fun!!!
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">MATERIALS:

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">A styrofoam heart (any size)

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">LOTS of glitter, for mine, I used pink)

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Desired mechanism for hanging

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Craft Glue

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Surface for glittering

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Take your stryofoam heart and brush with a generous coat of craft glue on one of the sides.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Now coat with glitter color of your choice.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Let dry for roughly 1 hour.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Repeat for other side.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Let whole thing dry overnight.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Hold up and sprinkle extra glitter off.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Done! Hope it looks good with your other Valentines Day decor! Good Luck!
I know that it's really late but I had a lot of things to get through, as all of you may know! This bracelet is color and easy to make. Note: your can adjust this bracelet to how you want it. I did a 12 coiled one with rainbow seed beads. You can change that to anything you'd like, like a 7 coiled one with purple e-beads. Just remember, bring YOUR creativity to this, and have fun! So, here's the bracelet!
So today I went to a used book sale at my library. I need ed a couple of things and thought that would be a good place to get them. While I was browsing, a section caught my eye that would of never before, the comic book section! I was looking through them and thought, gee, everyone is using vintage music note sheets, why not use comics? They have adorable pictures and little words and some are even in color! The one I used for this craft was a black+white because I wanted the colored paper and embellishments to be the color for this project. This is a fun and easy way to add color and style to a room, a party, or even a door! Have fun with this project!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">MATERIALS
1. Depending on the size of your wrist, 75-85 safety pins- 55/$1.00 at Dollar Tree (2 packs)
3. Beads around the house or ones purchased at the Dollar store. ( I used ones left over from a past craft)
4. OPTIONAL; Super Glue ($1.00)
TOTAL: About $4.00-$5.00

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS~
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I mentioned in my Craft Deed of the Day- Candle Holder post that my mom and I went rummage sale shopping today. Like I said, it was very busy and we didn't get the time to really look around and see what was there, didn't find anything vintage, but I was still able to pick up a couple of things for future crafts:
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">What I found, as you can see, was a lot of Mary Englebreit products like coasters for my room and stationary. I hope you have good rummaging this weekend!
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Today my mom and I went to a rummage sale at a community house. IT WAS PACKED! Not much good quality looking time but we were able to pick up a couple of things! One of the things I picked up was a beautiful little candle holder with a cameo on it, but they were 2 for $0.25. The other candle holders left had the ribbon boarder and cameo pulled off. They really were bad looking but I couldn't just get one so I got one of the scuffed up ones. When I was about to throw it away I suddenly saw great potential in it (ha ha ha). So I went to my mom's ribbon rack, and my embellishment cabinet and here's what I came up with:

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> MATERIALS:

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Any candle holder (damaged or not)

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Ribbon

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Glue or zots

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Scissors

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">OPTIONAL: Embellishments

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> Pick a ribbon you like or that matches the surroundings that the candle holder will be in. Measure and cut the appropriate amount.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Apply glue or zots (pre-cut circular sticky dots, that's what I used) ONTO THE RIBBON, not the candle holder, it may run and end up being where you don't want it. Apply the ribbon to the candle holder.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">This is where you can add embellishments. My candle holder already had a "medallion" thing on it so it worked really well for me. I used music notes to back the medallion. I took an old ring that I do not wear any more (it's a mood ring, I hope the candle holder doesn't become mad!) I cut off the part that goes around your finger and used super glue to apply it to the candle holder.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Note: This exact candle holder can be purchased at Dollar Tree. I recently purchased the blue one there. The ones at the dollar store will come with a cameo on it. It is very possible though to pull the cameo off and use this pattern.
This segment is where I will show you the main crafty thing I did today. This is good for you because since I only have a day to do the craft, It will we simple, easy, costs little money, but yet beautiful and high quality.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> So today I decided that since I had a "chair hole" in my desk, I needed to cover that up, so I made a desk skirt.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">MATERIALS:

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Fabric (any kind works)

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Staple Gun

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Desk/ Table (ha ha ha)

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Ribbon/ garland

Fabric Tac

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">OPTIONAL: embellishments

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

Measure your desk/table all the way around and get fabric needed. Make sure to allow at least 2x the amount of fabric needed to have room for pleading.

Put a staple at the very end of your desk/table, one at the very start, and one in the middle.

Starting at one half (any half is fine) straighten the fabric out and make a V shape with the fabric, then push the fabric back to the desk/table and put it in the middle of the one half you already made. Continue this step until you get to the point where there is little left on that half then push both of the sides that are left and plead them together.

Repeat step four onto the other half

Now add ribbon along the top, with fabric tac, to cover the staple marks

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Now is where you can add any embelishments if you wanted to. I choose to leave mine because I decided that the print was busy enough!
