Rummage Sale Finds

Hey Everyone!
I mentioned in my Craft Deed of the Day- Candle Holder post that my mom and I went rummage sale shopping today. Like I said, it was very busy and we didn't get the time to really look around and see what was there, didn't find anything vintage, but I was still able to pick up a couple of things for future crafts:

What I found, as you can see, was a lot of Mary Englebreit products like coasters for my room and stationary. But I also picked up all of those wooden hearts (3-different-sizes) for $1.00!! What a steal!! I have a project for them for valentines day. They will be coming up soon in a Craft Deed of the Day! I hope you have good rummaging this weekend!

Crafty Deed of the Day- Candle Holder

Hello Everyone!
Today my mom and I went to a rummage sale at a community house. IT WAS PACKED! Not much good quality looking time but we were able to pick up a couple of things! One of the things I picked up was a beautiful little candle holder with a cameo on it, but they were 2 for $0.25. The other candle holders left had the ribbon boarder and cameo pulled off. They really were bad looking but I couldn't just get one so I got one of the scuffed up ones. When I was about to throw it away I suddenly saw great potential in it (ha ha ha). So I went to my mom's ribbon rack, and my embellishment cabinet and here's what I came up with:



 MATERIALS:

• Any candle holder (damaged or not)
• Ribbon
• Glue or zots
• Scissors
• OPTIONAL: Embellishments

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

1.  Pick a ribbon you like or that matches the surroundings that the candle holder will be in. Measure and cut the appropriate amount.
2. Apply glue or zots (pre-cut circular sticky dots, that's what I used) ONTO THE RIBBON, not the candle holder, it may run and end up being where you don't want it. Apply the ribbon to the candle holder.
3. This is where you can add embellishments. My candle holder already had a "medallion" thing on it so it worked really well for me. I used music notes to back the medallion. I took an old ring that I do not wear any more (it's a mood ring, I hope the candle holder doesn't become mad!) I cut off the part that goes around your finger and used super glue to apply it to the candle holder.

Note: This exact candle holder can be purchased at Dollar Tree. I recently purchased the blue one there. The ones at the dollar store will come with a cameo on it. It is very possible though to pull the cameo off and use this pattern.

Crafty Deed of the Day- Table/Desk Skirt

     Okay, so since this is my first blog post, I'm going to sort of introduce this segment. This segment is where I will show you the main crafty thing I did today. This is good for you because since I only have a day to do the craft, It will we simple, easy, costs little money, but yet beautiful and high quality.
     So today I decided that since I had a "chair hole" in my desk, I needed to cover that up, so I made a desk skirt.

    














MATERIALS:

• Fabric (any kind works)
• Staple Gun
• Desk/ Table (ha ha ha)
• Ribbon/ garland
• Fabric Tac
• OPTIONAL: embellishments

     STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Measure your desk/table all the way around and get fabric needed. Make sure to allow at least 2x the amount of fabric needed to have room for pleading.
2. Put a staple at the very end of your desk/table, one at the very start, and one in the middle.
3. Starting at one half (any half is fine) straighten the fabric out and make a V shape with the fabric, then push the fabric back to the desk/table and put it in the middle of the one half you already made. Continue this step until you get to the point where there is little left on that half then push both of the sides that are left and plead them together.
   Repeat step four onto the other half
4. Now add ribbon along the top, with fabric tac, to cover the staple marks
5. Now is where you can add any embelishments if you wanted to. I choose to leave mine because I decided that the print was busy enough!
